Frank Vern Newton passed away at his home on August 8, 2017 in Portland, Oregon at the age of 87.
Frank is survived by his wife Betty Newton and children, Carol (Ron), Brent (Sharon), Kevin (Brenda), and Lisa (Harold), 13 Grandchildren and 16 and counting Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings.
Frank was born on December 17, 1929 in Powell Butte, Oregon to William and Vevia Newton. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1968 with a Bachelor's in Science degree. He met Betty Schoolmaster on a ranch in Bend, Oregon, and went on to marry her in 1950. After moving to Portland, Oregon, Frank continued working for the State of Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission as a Wildlife Biologist. The couple welcomed 4 children into their home and Frank set about teaching them about the importance of a strong work ethic. His children remember him as a kind and driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Frank was accomplished at outdoorsman and often could be found hunting or golfing. He was a dedicated individual who loved golfing, hunting, and traveling and who was passionate about his family and job. If you ask anyone what his true talent was their response every time would be his whistling, people would stop him in the grocery store because they would love listening to his whistle. Frank was tremendous with his hands and if it could be built by hand you bet that frank would build it. He was an active and dedicated member of the Sauvie Island Communit Church. Frank also took pride in being a part of NRA and Oregon Duck Hunters Association.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for at 2:00 pm on August 16,2017 at Sauvie Island Community Church. Pastor will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Frank's life. Condolences can be sent to skylinememorialgardens.com
